The Antichrist

The Antichrist

The Antichrist is known biblically as the Beast.

Who is the Antichrist? I don’t know. We got Raptured before the Tribulation began! You probably know who he is better than I do.

In a nutshell, the Antichrist is a man who is wholly committed to Satan. He will literally try to  act like The Lord Jesus Christ. He will be a false Christ, so to speak.

Halfway through the Tribulation, the Antichrist dies, and is resurrected. Most Bible believing pastors believe he will literally be possessed by Satan.

The Antichrist will be best known for doing the near-impossible – He will achieve peace in the Middle East. The peace will not last, but the Antichrist will show himself to be extremely  militarily powerful – he will utterly destroy any opposition to his rule.

In many ways, the Antichrist will be like a combination of Antiochus Epiphanes (except he’ll not be incompetent as Antiochus was), and Alexander the Great – but with Messianic overtones.

Probably the closest man on earth to being a type of the Antichrist was Adolph Hitler – who incidentally shot himself in the head.

And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. Rev 13:3 (KJV)

It’s very possible that Hitler may have believed himself at the end of the War to be the Antichrist, and was hoping his suicidal gunshot would have left him dead for three days, then resurrect as the Antichrist will. However, Hitler was never seen alive again. The KGB claims they have Hitler’s skull on display, a distinct possibility.

When a man arises whom the world reveres as Germany and Austria did during the 1930’s, who amasses as much military power, who can successfully wage war as Hitler did in the beginning, all the while crying peace and self defense (again, as Hitler did) – that man is most likely to be the Antichrist. Satan was probably completely astonished that Hitler did not turn out to be the Antichrist. I suspect that Satan is constantly on the move, finding a person committed to him and quickly trying to move that man into power. When he fails, Satan probably moves immediately to plan 2. This last person he chose just before the Rapture – bingo. That’s the one.

The thing that will prove it will be the signing of the peace treaty in the Middle East. This will produce a lasting peace – well, it will seem that way. Hamas and Hezbollah will probably abide by the peace for once, which will be the difference. There have been myriads of peace treaties in the Middle East, none of which lasted more than a few days. This one will appear to last for quite some time.

This peace treaty will be signed within a short space of time after the Rapture. Indeed, it’s extremely possible that the Rapture causes the power vacuum that allows the treaty to be signed in the first place!

Scripture and the Antichrist

Scripture uses the word Antichrist in three way –

  1. The Antichrist, the false messiah whom Satan will posses
  2. A false Christian
  3. a false religious system/belief, that resembles Christianity but actually opposes it. Such as Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witness, Campbellite/Church of Christ, and Roman Catholic.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thess 2:3-12 (KJV)

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.Dan 9:26-27 (KJV)

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 1 John 2:18 (KJV)

Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 1 John 2:22-23 (KJV)

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 1 John 4:3 (KJV)

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 2 John 1:7 (KJV)

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.Rev 13:18 (KJV)

To understand The Antichrist, one must look at the portraits of him from Isaiah, Daniel and Revelation.

The Scriptures carefully portray him as a charismatic leader, promising peace, yet quick to amass massive military power
